FINALLY!

As a result of only being a sophomore in high school.... I "get" to take finals... and still have plenty more of them in my future. BUT, as of today at 2:41, I am done with semester 1 finals of my sophomore year! Yippee!

I have been struggling to keep up with the studying/homework/papers/readings I have had to complete in the last two weeks (thank you teachers for cramming ALL you can into the last few weeks remaning of the semester) and have neglected this blog. I have to admit, I was easily tempted to make a new post each day (which I probably could have...) but decided it would be worth it to get an A on my finals AND have a 'well thought out' post. I am extremely relieved I get to enjoy a THREE DAY WEEKEND (!!!!) without homework and I can get distracted all I want and not have the thought of school lingering in the back of my mind.

As I have mentioned before... please please pelase please please read The Hunger Games (whomever you may be...)! They are outstanding and thrilling.

Another suggestion: Billie Holiday radio station on Pandora. I have a new obsession of this type of music and am utterly willing to rewind time and live in that era... When I turn on the radio in the car and hear some (not all..) trashy songs, my heart sinks a little, realizing how much music has changed. So out of pity of my generation (and obsession) I turn on Billie Holiday and dance around my house with a smile on my face.

Happy FRIDAY!

Remember to smile!

p.s. look at THIS stud of mine.

I miss....

I miss the feel of the warm glowing sun, persistently shining on my already tanned skin.

I miss the sounds of the lawnmowers running, cutting the freshly grown, brilliantly green grass.

I miss the giggles of kids running through the sprinklers in their colorful swim suits.

I dearly miss Summer.

This 40 degree January days are not helping with the 'spring fever' rising up in me, extremely ready to burst.

Skating once again!

We finally got some snow down here in good 'ol Northfield, so we decided to go skating in St. Paul! As it turned out... either the snow didn't even hit St. Paul, or it melted before we were there to see its beauty. Either way, it was still a beautiful day. Skating anywhere is very exciting to me, and being with all those people and hearing the new sounds of the big city was even more invigorating. We had quite a lot of fun after attempting to enjoy ourselves in the jam packed Mall of America for a few hours. It was an eventful day, considering we started out at noon... A wee bit later than expected, but no harm was done. My winter break is slowly coming to an end, but I try to enjoy every minute of it while I can.

Hope all had a beautiful, happy Friday!

Happy Tuesday!

Family & Friends are great

Gee wiz, Christmas is already over! It's sad to say, but honestly this year it did not feel like Christmas. I miss the times when I wake up at 6 am, yelling and giggling forcing my parents to awake.  I miss jumping on Samara's bed, in hope of her remembering this precious day. I miss the years when there were bites from your cookies, and a large sip of milk was left in its jar. The years when my smile would reach the top of my cheeks in excitement of all the gifts hidden beneath the tree. I miss Santa. But more importantly, I miss when all I had to do was run down the hall to Samara's room. Now she lives a state away... Although I now appreciate every moment we spend together. This year two Erics were part of the Thompson family. It's a happy time, Christmas. Everyone is all smiles and happiness. Too bad snow wasn't a part of the holidays, but it was quite nice to not be frozen when walking from the car... yes I become spoiled after these warm 37 degree days. I hope all had a wonderful Christmas!

Haha!

Playing cards! WOO! Nice gift Grammy!

Even though it's a brown Christmas...

Yes, sadly Northfield and most of Minnesota is without snow. This will be my first brown Christmas, and am quite disappointed, but somewhat relieved... Travels are much easier without the powder that makes us all groan when we are forced to drive 30 mph on the freeway. But hey, as long as the sun is shinning, I am utterly content. The earth seems somewhat cold enough to keep the skating rinks frozen, which excites me. Although I am not the best skater, it is still something to do around here, small town Northfield. Today, my friends and I went ice skating. It was terrific! (some photos to document the fun.. :))

we've become professionals...

Gosh she is beautiful.
